Can you write a Web page
like this one?
Answer “Yes,” and you will
be in big demand, earning great money, writing a few hours a day from anywhere
in the world you choose to live…
Dear Reader,
I’ve been a copywriter since 1979, and I’m a print guy.
So when the Internet craze began, I feared the printed word was doomed — and
that I, a writer, would have to find another career — fast.
Happily, I was dead wrong.
Rather than killing copywriting as a profession, the Internet has literally doubled
the market for my freelance copywriting services – and added another $100,000
a year to my income.
And, if you can follow the simple recommendations AWAI is about to give you,
you might be able to double demand for your freelance copywriting services, too.
Not to mention your income. To discover how, click
here now.
You see, our direct mail clients are now hiring AWAI students – at as much
as $1,000 a page and more – to write online ads, e-zines, banners, e-mails,
landing pages, microsites, Web sites, and more.
Here’s what I’m saying:
"When you have mastered online copywriting,
you can literally
double your freelance writing income – getting twice as many
assignments, at great pay, from almost every client."
You may not know this…but the top online copywriters make well in excess
of $100,000 a year…just from writing for the Internet!
Others who are adept at writing for the Internet have launched their own online
businesses…selling their own products…with Web copy they wrote themselves.
And they’re making sales of $1,000 to $5,000 in a day…$25,000 in
a weekend…and in some cases, considerably more.
Not everybody is doing that, it’s true.
For instance, at first I made hardly a dime writing for the Internet.
But that’s because, like so many other writers, I found the Internet intimidating,
strange, and unfamiliar.
You see, for 25 years, I’d successfully written hundreds of direct mail
packages for dozens of big-name clients.
And, I’d worked my way through AWAI’s Accelerated Program for Six-Figure
Copywriting…several times.
So, like you, I know the formula for direct mail success inside and out – core
complex, how to organize the copy, how long it should be, how to lay out the text,
architecture of a sales letter, what text goes on the order form, and how to design
the outer envelope.
But e-mail, Web sites, and online ads? “Forget it!” I thought.
Even with my decades of copywriting experience, I felt I had no knowledge of
the Internet as a medium, no expertise in writing online promotions, and no confidence
in tackling these kinds of assignments.
The “correct” techniques for online copywriting seemed like a strange
secret some other copywriters knew, but for some reason wouldn’t share with
me.
I didn’t even know what to charge.
How much for a Web site? A page on a Web site? An e-zine? An e-mail marketing
message? A banner ad? I was totally clueless.
That was then. But you can’t stand in the way of progress.
Sure enough, some of my clients started asking me to write their online copy.
So I took a few stabs at it.
In print, I’d written promos that generated millions of dollars in sales
for many of these companies. But online, my results were mixed at best.
Sometimes my online copy would work. More often, it bombed – so frequently
that I got gun-shy and avoided writing for the Internet if I could help it.
Meanwhile, Agora Publishing – a company you’ve heard us talk about
at AWAI many times (they’re the second largest direct marketer of consumer
newsletters in the U.S.) — was succeeding all the time with their online
marketing efforts.
I knew that Agora (a client of mine) was getting fantastic results using e-mail
marketing – generating millions of dollars in online revenue for their information
products.
Now, AWAI has incorporated Agora’s million-dollar secrets into a new online
copywriting program — Secrets of Writing for the Internet.
Think of Secrets of Writing for the Internet as AWAI’s “Graduate
Course” in online copywriting.
It builds on what you’ve learned about copywriting in our “Accelerated
Program” –
— and applies it to teaching you how to write outrageously successful Internet
promotions — using many of the same techniques we teach in direct
mail…and some you’ve never heard of before.
As an AWAI member, you are invited to preview this exciting new Internet copywriting
course risk-free for 30 days. Just click

Is writing for the Internet different
than writing for the printed page?
Maybe you have some of the same questions about writing for the Internet that
I did.
Questions like these (all of which are answered clearly and authoritatively in
AWAI’s new course, Secrets of Writing for the Internet):
- What do direct mail and e-mail copywriting have in common? How are they different?
- Is search engine optimization important? How the heck do I know what keywords
to use – and where do I place them?
- How can I make sure the e-mail messages I write get past spam filters?
- What’s a typical response rate to a successful e-mail marketing campaign?
How do you measure it?
- Is writing online copy basically the same as writing print – or fundamentally
different?
- Where do you get good lists for sending your e-mail marketing messages?
- Should e-mail be personalized? Where?
- What’s the best response mechanism for e-mail marketing?
- How do you design an effective banner ad? What size pulls best?
- Why doesn’t e-mail marketing work for acquiring new customers? What
does work?
- How much should you charge to write a Web site? An e-mail? An online ad?
- Who are the most successful online marketers – and what are they doing
that we can copy and be successful with?
- How can I write e-mail marketing messages so the reader doesn’t mistake
my messages for spam?
- When is the best day of the week to send e-mail marketing messages? The best
time of the day?
- Is going online a good way to get online assignments – or is it an utter
waste of time?
- What online copywriting assignments do direct marketers typically farm out
to freelancers…and what do they expect to pay?
- How can I get my first online copywriting assignment…even if I have
no previous online copywriting experience or samples?
The good news is….
Ace copywriter John Forde (you’ve met him if you’ve attended AWAI
Boot Camp) and his Board of Advisors (you’ll meet them in a minute) have
just completed a new breakthrough course for AWAI, Secrets of Writing for
the Internet.
I believe it’s the best program out there, bar none, on how to write online
copy that sells…and earn $100,000 a year or more doing it.
We are so confident of your success with this program, that we offer this unconditional
guarantee of satisfaction:
After completing AWAI’s Secrets of Writing for
the Internet’ program, you will become part of an elite group – the
top 1% of all copywriters writing for the Internet today – or your money
back.
That means the top 1% in skill…the top 1% in the quality of your online
copy…the top 1% in the results your online copy generates…and the
top 1% in fees, royalties, and earnings.

Why don’t more online marketers know
how to write copy that sells?
The amazing thing is that many of the so-called “mainstream” Internet
marketers – the gurus who regularly speak at Web marketing conferences – haven’t
a clue as to how to write for the Internet or sell online.
If you’ve attended those conferences (like ClickZ, where I’ve been
a speaker), you know most of the sessions focus on technical things like Macromedia
Flash, HTML vs. XML, key words and meta-tags, usability, search engine optimization,
Web metrics, customer relationship management systems, pay per click, database-driven
online transactions, content management software, and stuff I can’t even
name, much less understand – the glitzy, high-tech bells and whistles.
They virtually ignore the one thing that master marketers like John Forde, Addison
Wiggin, Andrew Palmer, Yanik Silver, Joe Vitale, Nick Usborne, Steve Slaunwhite,
and the other experts who contributed to Secrets of Writing for the Internet know
is the most important secret of selling online:
The copy…the words you use.
In direct mail, copy is king. And it’s not any different online. As top
online copywriter Nick Usborne observes:
“Go to your favorite Web site, strip away the glamour of the design and
technology, and you’re left with words – your last, best way to differentiate
yourself online.”
Take a look at the Web sites out there today, and at the e-mail marketing messages
that arrive in your in-box this week.
They are, in a word, awful – totally lacking in the fundamentals of good
copywriting that you’ve learned in AWAI’s “Accelerated Program
for Six-Figure Copywriting” (I’m sure you must have already noticed
this.)
Is it because the online copywriters who wrote these promotions are lazy? Well
maybe. But that’s not the biggest reason.
The real reason most online marketing stinks like week-old fish is that most
online copywriters don’t know what the heck they’re doing!
The fact is, 95% of what you read about “how to make money on the Internet” is
dead wrong. And 95% of the online copy out there just doesn’t work.
So what does work?
I’d like to tell you someone found a treasure trove of never-before-discovered
secrets. I’d like to pretend that everything you need to know was handed
down from on high.
But that’s simply not the case.
What we used to make literally millions of dollars on the Web over the last 2
years, we learned from the expensive experience of our clients and partners.
Until now, conducting your own tests was really the only way you could really
learn how to write words that build fortunes on the Web.
Sure, there were courses. But very few tested, proven, documented secrets. Except
those passed around between a few secretive, select “gurus” of Web
marketing.
That’s changed. Now, if you want to learn the truth about online marketing …
If you want to write online copy that generates truckloads of money for you and
your clients…
And if you’re willing to rethink everything you’ve been taught about
how the Internet really works…
Then you don’t need to agonize through long years of testing and trial
and error. All you need to do is click
here now.
Frankly, what we’re doing now, we never believed would work when we got
started marketing online.
We just had to try something, or watch our publishing businesses get swallowed
by the Internet trend. And this led us to a monumental discovery.
We discovered that, with just a few minor modifications, the same proven direct
mail copywriting principles we’d developed over 20 years of successful mailing
actually worked just as well or better on the Internet.
It doesn’t take much. Just a few simple twists. And in no time you
can start making a lot of money online for yourself…for your clients…and
for anybody who ends up clamoring for your newfound Internet expertise. It’s
really shockingly easy to make money on the Internet, once you understand how.

Internet marketers all in one place?
Here’s how all this incredible material comes together….
John Forde is the lead author of Secrets of Writing for the Internet.
In my opinion, John is one of the 10 best direct response copywriters in the world.
I’ve read dozens of his promotions, online and offline, and the man is
an absolute master! I learn something every time I read what he’s written.
John has more controls than I can keep count of. I know he’s earned more
than $200,000 a year from his online and offline copywriting – fees and
royalties – and that his online promotions alone have pulled in millions
of dollars in sales.
And he's helped drive Agora Publishing to become a $100 million direct marketer
of information products.
Forget the small stuff. These secrets are drawn from real marketing — on
a round the clock basis — to over half a million "opt-in" online
subscribers — secrets that have already produced undisclosed millions in
annual online revenue.
But what really matters to you is that John isn't just sharing *his* secrets. He's
also rounded up the “heavy hitters” of online marketing, from across
the entire industry, and grilled them mercilessly for their most effective online
secrets:
- Joe Vitale, known affectionately by his fans as “The
Buddha of the Internet,” has been writing great copy, online and offline,
for decades. He lives in a gorgeous estate and drives a beautiful new BMW Z3,
all paid for by marketing products online. I’ve known Joe for almost a
quarter of a century, and I don’t know anyone more obsessed and passionate
about marketing than he is.
- Addison Wiggin is an editor of The Daily Reckoning, through
which he helps Agora generate millions of dollars in online revenues annually.
He is also co-author of the New York Times best-seller “Financial Reckoning
Day.” Addison shares his wisdom on what makes powerful, irresistible e-zine
writing.
- Debbie Weil is a prolific author of articles, reports, and
e-books on Internet marketing and our resident guru in how to write readable,
effective e-zines and using HTML in e-mail marketing.
- Nick Usborne is a first-class online copywriter who comes,
as I do, from a print background, doing direct mail for major clients. He is
also a prolific writer of articles, books, and columns on online marketing.
Nice guy and a great teacher, too.
- You’ll hear from Brian York, Internet Marketing Director
of one of the world’s largest private investment clubs, The Oxford Club.
Brian’s efforts have added 30,000 new paid members through online marketing
and taken the Club’s online division from a $50,000 loss to almost $8
million in sales.
- Andrew Palmer, Director of Web Marketing for Agora Financial
Publishing, is responsible for millions of dollars in annual online revenues.
One of his recent e-mails generated $38,738.70 in gross sales in a single weekend.
- Yanik Silver is a Russian immigrant who not only mastered
English and the Internet, but combined the two to make himself a multi-millionaire
while still in his 20s. His specialty is selling information products online,
and he may be one of the five best Web site writers on the planet.
- Steve Slaunwhite earns over $150,000 a year as a freelance
copywriter. An e-mail marketing campaign he created for a multinational software
firm generated four times the response of any of their previous campaigns, and
he has written copy for five Web sites that were listed in BtoB Magazine’s
top 100.
- Maria Veloso, a 25-year veteran of copywriting and direct
marketing, is widely acknowledged as the premier advocate of frame-of-mind marketing.
She has developed a unique model of Web copywriting that has consistently been
proven successful for selling a wide array of products and services online.
- Sean D’Souza, Chief Brain Auditor at www.psychotactics.com,
is a rising star in the online marketing. He makes over $120,000 a year working
just a couple of hours a day marketing e-books to his own list.
Now, this crack team of online copywriting experts reveals their most powerful
secrets for selling over the Internet. To preview these online copywriting secrets

Has the Internet made print obsolete?
No doubt about it. Online marketing is booming – a real growth industry:
- More than 150 million households have Internet access. And half of them buy
products and services online. By 2005, there will be over 717 million Internet
users.
- The average adult Internet user receives 155 e-mail marketing messages a week
(and when you take our Internet copywriting course, you can get paid handsomely
to write some of them). Spending on e-mail marketing will reach $7.3 billion
annually by 2005.
- There are almost 1.5 million Web site domain names registered worldwide…and
more than 2 billion pages posted on the Web.
- In 2002, revenues from Internet shopping were approximately $40 billion. Jupiter
Research, a New York-based research firm, says annual online sales could reach
$105 billion by 2007.
This means that as a copywriter and marketer, you can love the Internet…you
can hate the Internet…but you can’t afford to ignore it.
If you’re not as adept at online copywriting and marketing as you are in
print, your competitors will enjoy an unfair advantage over you.
Clients today want the “full package” – copy for their direct
mail piece as well as their e-mail and Web site. And they want it all from the
same writer. If you don’t write online copy, you risk losing valuable assignments
to other copywriters.
Now with AWAI’s new course, Secrets of Writing for the Internet,
you can write as confidently for the Internet as you do for print…keep
your clients satisfied…win more new business…and add tens of thousands
of dollars to your freelance writing income.
Remember our Big Promise for the Secrets of Writing for the Internet program:
“Take this course. Do the work. We guarantee after
completing the program, you will be in the top 1% of online copywriters – in
terms of quality of your copy, clients, results, sales, and fees – or
your money back.”
Yes, the top 1%. Not the top 10%. The top 1%.
And that means an annual income of $100,000 or more, purely from writing Internet
copy – and that’s on top of the revenue you already earn.
How’s that for a big promise?
And here’s one more promise I think you’ll really like:
Your Secrets of Writing for the Internet manual includes an actual “spec
assignment” for a real online marketing client.
If this company likes the e-mail marketing message you write for them, they will
mail it and pay you $500 for the copy…paying back your entire investment
in our course.
Even if they don’t mail it, an AWAI instructor will critique your copy
so you can rewrite it to the point where you can use it in your portfolio…and
show it to potential clients as a demonstration of your skill.
(You can legitimately tell them it’s a real assignment for a real client.
If they ask the result, you can legitimately say “it hasn’t mailed
yet” so you don’t know.)
